See What Businesses Like Yours Actually Earn: The Illinois VGT Performance Database

Monte Cristo Gaming — September 29, 2026

VGT revenue promises can sound too good to be true. Sometimes they are. The fastest way to find out is to look at what businesses like yours have actually earned, and in Illinois, that data is public.

The trouble is that it's buried in monthly spreadsheets from the Illinois Gaming Board. So we built the Illinois Video Gaming Performance Database: two years of official IGB revenue data for every currently licensed establishment in the state, searchable in seconds.

What's inside

The current dataset covers July 2024 through June 2026 and includes:

  • 8,900+ establishments across Illinois

  • Over 50,000 active video gaming terminals

  • $6.5 billion+ in net terminal income and more than $71 billion played over the period

  • A statewide average hold of about 9.2%

How to use it

Filter by any combination of:

  • Establishment name, DBA or address

  • City and county

  • Date range

  • License type: establishment, fraternal, veterans, truck stop or large truck stop

  • Net terminal income, win per unit per day, and hold percentage

  • Top performers, by percentage of the field

Results show up as a table, on a map with markers or a heatmap scaled by income, and as summary totals. Need to work with the numbers yourself? Download a CSV of anything you filter.

Four ways owners use it

  1. Reality-check a forecast. Before you trust any projection, including ours from Project Your Revenue, filter to similar businesses in your city and see what they actually earned per machine.

  2. Benchmark your current operator. Already have machines? Look up your location, then compare your win per unit to similar places nearby. If you trail your neighbors month after month, it's a fair question to ask why.

  3. Find what great looks like. Sort by win per unit and study the top performers in your area. Most of them aren't the biggest rooms. They're the best-run ones.

  4. Scout a market. Thinking about a new location? See how gaming performs in that town before you commit.

The number to watch: win per unit

Total income depends on how many machines a place runs. Win per unit (WPU) per day strips that out and shows how hard each machine is working. It's the fairest way to compare a four-machine tavern to a six-machine sports bar. The typical Illinois location wins about $92 per machine per day. The top 10% clear roughly $263.

A note on the data

Figures come straight from the Illinois Gaming Board's monthly video gaming reports and the current establishment licensee list. They reflect IGB-reported totals and aren't audited by Monte Cristo Gaming. Map pins are approximated to the county level, not exact street addresses.
